We are a simple family of four. We try to make the most out of this journey called life. My husband was born in a small town in New Mexico and I in a small town in Kansas, yet we met in Houston and began our lives together there. After five years of marriage we relocated to Atlanta. We have three beautiful daughters and a crazy black lab! We may take ourselves on some crazy adventures at times but we know we have our faith, our love for each other, and our family that will get us through anything!

A Visit to the Fire Station

At the beginning of July, a parent in our neighborhood organized a visit to our local fire station.  The kids were all from our neighborhood home preschool program Evie attended during the year (and their siblings).  It was something I had on my list of things to do with the girls for the summer so I was excited when another parent mentioned the idea!

The firemen had a a slight range of ages and attention spans of the kids, but they were so patient and did a wonderful job of showing the kids all about the fire trucks and tools they use!

One of the firemen dressed in full gear in front of the children and showed them what he sounds like when he talks.  I hadn't thought about it before, but they stressed how important it was for the kids to see them and know not to be scared in case a fireman had to come and rescue them!

.....and this is pretty much what Evie thought of the experience!  She and Layla were also both too scared to climb in the fire truck and see what was inside.  Mommy even got in first to see if it would go with me, but that just made Layla even more upset!

The four sweet girls in the group!

They did let me get a quick photo of them on the front of the truck!

The firemen gave the kids fire hats and a little goodie bag.  I had no idea they now have pink fire hats too!  The girls loved them!

Even though the girls were a little unsure of the experience they have loved to talk about it since our visit....and they get excited every time we drive past the fire station!
