Of course there is always the standard of filling up the small pool and attaching the sprinkler to the hose in the back yard! It's great the girls have each other and gives me a chance to put my feet up once everything is ready!
Another day we taped a roll of paper to the fence outside. Then we filled up spray bottles with watered down paint, used some small paint rollers, and balls they could dip in the paint and throw at the paper.
I think the spray bottles were my girls favorite and it kept them entertained for a while! This same morning we also made our own homemade bubbles. We made wands from pipe cleaners (thanks to my wonderful friend Rachel for the creative idea) and the yarn/straw combination for bubble making.
The girls had been to a birthday party over the weekend and got some "pixie dust" as part of a party favor. They decided they wanted to sprinkle it in their fairy garden and around the flowers!
My sweet girls helping each other with the pixie dust :)
And you know when you are a combination of paint, dirt, sticky bubbles, and sparkle from pixie dust......it's been a GOOD morning!
On another day I filled the bottom of two glass dishes with baking soda. Then I gave the girls some droppers and vinegar mixed with food coloring.....then let them explore! They loved watching the bubbles created by the reaction of the vinegar and baking soda! And it kept them busy for at least 30 minutes!
Evie seemed to love all the different colors!
And Layla just loved exploring everything....including rubbing it all her arms!
It was messy, BUT fun! And I loved watching the girls explore!
We also made some colored "ice boats" by filling some containers with water, adding a colored bath tablet and a straw with a flag then putting it in the freezer over night. The next day we took them out and the girls played with them in the water table. They had fun, but the ice melted pretty quickly so they didn't last long....but the girls still enjoyed playing with and mixing the colored water!
Our summer is certainly off to a wonderful messy start!
