I guess I should include a post about our princess #3 since we are already well into the third trimester and I feel like she will be here before we know it! We have been so blessed with another healthy pregnancy!
Here are a few answers to three questions I typically hear:
1) Are the girls excited?/What do the girls think?
Evie loves to hug and kiss my belly! And she has gotten to feel the baby move on several occasions! She is very excited about having another baby sister! And knows the "doctor will take the baby out" sometime after her (Evie's) birthday.
Layla also talks about "a baby sister" and "baby in mommy's belly." Layla has been in a little bit of a clingy, mommy phase so hopefully she'll adjust as smoothly as Evie did when Layla joined the family:)
2) How am I feeling?
For the most part I am feeling pretty good. I have felt a little more physically tired with this pregnancy, but then again it is my 3rd in 4.5 years and I have a 3 year old and 2 year old to keep up with. Oh, and of course there is that little thing called "age" and being a little older with this pregnancy compared to my last two as well! I'm at the point of the typical, up a few times at night for the bathroom, kicks in the ribs, punches in the bladder, and just general not a lot of room for this little mover and shaker inside me, plus braxton hicks 3-5 times per day!
The hardest part this third time has been some of the issues with circulation and veins.......I blame those Broxterman/Burdiek genes....and now have more empathy for many of aunts! It hasn't affected the pregnancy at all.....it just creates some pressure and discomfort. But as long as I can keep moving (not sitting or standing for lengthy periods of time) and/or take about 10 minutes 3-4 time per day to elevate my feet I feel pretty good! And hey, I'll take this over the modified bedrest for pre-eclampsia with my first pregnancy any day!
It's also funny to me how many people ask if I am having a boy and comment about how "low" I seem to be carrying. (A cashier at a restaurant even nicely "argued" with me when I told her it was a girl). Yes, I know mistakes can happen, but I saw the utlrasound pretty clearly and would be surprised if this was anything but a girl! And yes, everything feels lower to me as well.....so as my doctor told me "those ligaments don't just bounce back" and consecutive pregnancies like this just don't have the same ligament support as the first so everything is going to be a bit lower!
This weekend I ran a few errands (by myself.....almost like a vacation:)....and ended up have three people comment about my belly being so tiny, or looking adorable! Oh my goodness! I wanted to hug these strangers....ha! You know, you never feel so "tiny" when it's you!
3) Do you have a name picked out?
Not really! We have talked about names and feel we may have one, but still not 100%! And just like the other two girls, if we do decide before her arrival we won't share until she's here:) Have to keep one element of surprise.....and this way there is usually less judgement and opinions when people see the adorable baby first and then hear her name...ha!
Overall, we are just so excited and can't wait to meet her! I feel a bit anxious about exactly how her arrival will happen since my other two were complete opposite! (With Evie I was induced, progressed well, pushed for two hours, but then ended up with a C-Section.....with Layla I started dilating at 34 weeks..4 cm. by 37 weeks, then went into active labor in the middle of the night at 38 weeks, had only two hours of labor, thought she was going to arrive in the car but did make it to the hospital and had a VBAC without any drugs...and barely even got an I.V. started!). I'm so, so curious as to how #3 will happen......let's just hope it's not at home!
Can't wait to meet her and hold her in our arms! I have no doubt she is going to be another beautiful brown-eyed little girl...which I adore!!!!
