Our girl's pediatric dentist is involved in a Halloween Candy Buy Back program. Basically it is a collaboration with Operation Gratitude, where the kids can bring their Halloween Candy and she pays them $1 per pound (up to $5). The candy is then gathered and sent in care packages to troops overseas.
Here is a link to a news report about it.
I thought this was a great activity for the girls to participate. Here is Evie watching her candy being weighed.
......4 lbs. of candy:)
getting her money
Posing with her certificate.
After we left I took her to the store so she could spend her money. On the way to the store we talked about how she got the money, why we donated our candy, and that we had to find something at the store that was less than $4. She did great at the store and did find a small set of disney princess books:)
