We are a simple family of four. We try to make the most out of this journey called life. My husband was born in a small town in New Mexico and I in a small town in Kansas, yet we met in Houston and began our lives together there. After five years of marriage we relocated to Atlanta. We have three beautiful daughters and a crazy black lab! We may take ourselves on some crazy adventures at times but we know we have our faith, our love for each other, and our family that will get us through anything!

It's Apple Season!

After a busy weekend (with Mike in class Friday and Saturday) we decided it would be nice to take a drive to North Georgia and pick some apples at the orchards today.    We went to church this morning, then headed up to Ellijay, Georgia where there are several orchards.    We went to one recommended to us as being the best for kids because of its additional activities.  It did have several things from pick your own apples, petting farm, milk a cow, wagon ride, playground, pony rides, ice-cream parlor, and several more.  With it being a weekend it was pretty crowded so we just did the wagon ride and picked some apples in the orchard.  The girls seemed to have so much fun and I loved watching them get the experience of picking their own apples.

My sweet girl and I waiting for the wagon ride!

Our little family on the wagon.  (Kind of brings back a few memories of the hayrides at my grandparent's house many years ago:0)

Getting ready to find the perfect apples!  I love the look on Layla's face!  Her first time to experience picking an apple from a tree!

Evie picking her first apple!

Layla found one too:0)

Growing up, both sets of my grandparents had some wonderful fruit trees and gardens.  There was nothing like picking a fruit or vegetable and sampling straight out of the garden!  Unfortunately I couldn't find any organic pick your own apples orchards in the area and knowing apples are at the top of the "dirty dozen" pesticide list we did our best to wash and scrub a couple apples so the girls could sample them.   The girls were so cute walking through the orchard eating their apples.  And Layla was so determined to finish her entire apple!

A few of my other favorite photos from the orchard:

We also walked through the market store before we left.  The girls got a special treat of some apple doughnuts and apple cider.  Mike and I shared an apple pie pocket.  It was all very delicious and now Evie is ready to bake up some apple type recipes at home too:)

It was worth the hour and a half drive and a wonderful way to spend this fall afternoon.  We will definitely put it on our things to do in the fall for next year too!
