On the day after Thanksgiving Santa sent us a Christmas elf! And this year he sent us a girl elf :0). Since it was a girl elf Santa said we should come up with a new name and Evie decided on Paula....however we all tend to slip a bit and refer to her by "Elfa" who visited us the last two years.
Our Elf is a little different than some of the other elves, as the girls are allowed to touch her and play with her and she doesn't fly to Santa to report on whether or not the girls were "naughty" or "nice." (I got the inspiration from this wonderful blog, you can read here! ) Basically it is the girl's job to teach Paula about Jesus and about forgiveness. How Jesus loves everyone, even when they make mistakes. Paula is sometimes caught having made some mistakes and messes during the night while we sleep and we try to use it as a lesson for the girls to forgive Paula and help teach her what is right. Since we are supposed to be teaching Paula about Jesus we sometimes have her with us as we pray before meals and have involved her in our discussions about the first Christmas night when Jesus was born!
Evie loves to go and search for Paula in the mornings and find out what she had done during the night!
uh-oh...not only did she make a mess, but she blamed Evie!
marshmallow bubble bath!
uh-oh...someone unstrung some Christmas lights and his hanging from them!
Snow (flour) angels anyone?
...into mommy's make-up!
...and sometimes mommies are tired and forgetful at night....but also very lucky to be too tired to tidy up the kitchen and put the camera away. Which was wonderfully mistaken for Paula having gotten my camera out of it's bag :)
.....someone had fun with the band-aids!
story time!
Daddy got into the fun one night too....a perfect spot in his office!
Game night!
hmmm...I wonder who unrolled the toilet paper and is sitting on the banister?
okay, yes...so I have become "that mom" with the Elf, but it is pretty priceless to see Evie's face in the morning when she finds the elf:)
