Well I survived the first week of having our house on the market.....now, of course I cried throughout the entire first showing as I watched from afar (in my favorite “stalking” position in my car). But it got a little easier by the end of the week. It’s just really hard to imagine someone else living in this house we built ourselves! We knew it would happen someday and I again am so proud of Mike and how well he has done in the company. I know he is very excited about this new position.
The first week on the market was completely crazy! We ended up having 11 showings....whew....that’s a lot of packing up a dog and a one year old and making sure the house is tidy before I leave. Fortunately we did not have any more mishaps with random tampons in the house!
On Friday we had four showings.....including two at 5:00 and one at 6:00.....well these three groups all drove separate to our house, which meant three vehicles for each (husband, wife, and realtor). The two 5:00 both showed up at 5:30 (one was a second showing:0). Once we knew they had arrived Mike, Evie, Kavi, and I (already in our vehicle) decided to drive around for a while.....when we drove back by around 6:00, the next showing had arrived and were parked in the street standing outside waiting their turn. At this point we had seven vehicles at our house....it looked like we were having a party....and we weren’t even there!!!!! Mike and I had to chuckle at the site and I wished I had a camera!
Saturday morning we ended up have a second showing from one of the Friday night party people! They spent over an hour in our house on Saturday morning....but it was well worth it as they called our realtor with an offer that afternoon:0) We of course are going to counter offer and work out some other small details, but so exciting to get an offer...and from someone who has already sold their house and can put down an offer without any contingencies. The very first family who came to see our house calls our realtor every day to see if it has sold because they are trying to sell their house and really want ours (the offer on their house last week fell through so they are crushed). Two other couples also want it but have to sell their house first. So, this is good news for us with actually getting it sold and getting it sold at a good price. It's been interesting hearing a bit about the families who have come to look at our house (our realtor let us know their stories). It actually makes it a little easier and at times I almost found myself "cheering" for certain couples/families to get our house. This journey called life is definitely very interesting!
Even though it is sad to think about moving out of this house we built ourselves, we feel VERY proud that in today’s market we have such high interest in this house we did ourselves. Our first project as a couple:0)
