I am not sure how it is possible that I just ordered 1st birthday invitations, but we are officially in Layla's birthday month! I still can't believe she will be ONE in less than thirty days!!! She has just brought so much joy to our lives over this last year.....we are so incredibly blessed to have her!
She was always my laid back baby. And still is....for the most part. But apparently at about 10 1/2 months she decided it was time to show us a little new side to her personality! Suddenly she is a little more determined and vocal about her wants and needs. And we are in the not so fun stage of refusing to lie still when getting a diaper change or being buckled in her car seat. And we have to always be sure the gate on the stairs is closed.....I think she can spot an open gate from anywhere in our house and heads straight for the stairs when it is open!!!! I think she is definitely going to be a little feisty at times:0)
She certainly watches her sister and attempts to do whatever Evie is doing. She loves to read books and her current favorites are Skippy John Jones Up and Down, Hand Hand Fingers Thumb, Peek-A-Who, and Moo, Baa, La, La, La. She has very good balance and loves to stand. She is walking more and more, but takes very careful, cautious steps:0) She's really at a point where she does a combination of crawling, walking along furniture/walls, etc. and walking independently. She loves being outside and playing in water. I prefer her to play in the water table but apparently she finds just as much enjoyment playing in Kavi's water bowl:(
A short video clip of her walking:0)
A short video clip of her "reading" one of her favorite books (**you can mute the music on the right hand side if you want to hear the video)
Here she is on Valentine's Day trying to eat with a spoon....just like big sis:0)
She is developing her first words and in addition to "mama" and "dada" she pretty consistently vocalizes "buh-buh" for bubbles and "ackel, ackel, ackel" for tickle, tickle, tickle. She certainly recognizes familiar songs and absolutely loves almost any song from her music class CD's. (Which has been a big help when she is not too happy in the car).
Her two bottom teeth popped through right before 10 months and the top two are coming in right now. I can see them, they just have broken through yet. I think teething has been a little more difficult for her than it was for Evie......or maybe I have just forgotten:( My baby girl is certainly growing up!
The cutest messy face I know!!!!!
Forget elbows on the table, this princess needs to learn feet do not belong on the table either!
I have a lot of extra help in the kitchen these days!
Little Miss Hollywood and our little ray of sunshine!
Layla-bug....you are such an amazing little miracle! We love you more than you will ever know!!!
