We are a simple family of four. We try to make the most out of this journey called life. My husband was born in a small town in New Mexico and I in a small town in Kansas, yet we met in Houston and began our lives together there. After five years of marriage we relocated to Atlanta. We have three beautiful daughters and a crazy black lab! We may take ourselves on some crazy adventures at times but we know we have our faith, our love for each other, and our family that will get us through anything!

23 months!!!!

I honestly am finding it hard to believe that in one more month my little girl will be turning two!  Gone will be the days when I classify her age in "months" as she will be known as a two year old for the next year!  She is really growing up before my very eyes!  And as I've said many, many times....I want to bottle her up and keep her small forever...yet, I love watching each new stage she enters.

Well most of the time I love it......not so much when we have those, "I'm about to be two" moments!  Like the day at our community pool when she was tired but didn't want to leave so she decided she was just going to cry loud enough for everyone at the pool to hear.   Near the end of last week we had a few days in a row of the short temperament, frequent whining, and crying over the smallest things.   I kept telling myself...."it's a growth spurt, it will be short lived!"  And sure enough as quickly as it began it also ended and we began to see a significant jump in her language (definitely increase in MLU for all my speechies...lol!), imagination/play skills, confidence, and level of independence.  What had been a thirty minute battle over getting dressed for three days now turned into, "O-Tay Daddy"and her being perfectly still to get ready.  I notice her randomly singing more songs, such as the ABC song (well except the "LMNOP" is sung as "EIEIO" :0)  And for some reason when Kenny Chesney's "I Go Back" was on the radio the other day she caught on so she was walking around the house singing, "I Doe Bat...I Doe Bat" (of course translation is I go back:0).  Her imagination and play skills are just exploding and I love to sit back and watch her.  She is suddenly into "pin-cesses" (princesses).  the other day she had a small Barbie on the table and accidentally dropped it on the floor.  She responded by saying, "Oh no. Pin-cess fall down.  You otay pin-cess? A need ban-aa?"  (You need a band-aid).

She continues to be an AMAZING big sister.  The other day I was vacumming while she was playing and Layla was sleeping.   Soon Evie came to me and said, "Momma, Yaya tying"  (mommy, Layla's crying).  Sure enough once I turned off the vacuum, I could tell Layla had woken-up and was crying.  I was just so proud of her for coming to let me know!  She continues to be super sweet with her little sister....and loves to kiss her and often tries to comfort her is she is crying.  She's always "sharing" toys with Layla (aka placing them on top of her)....and even brought her one of her bedtime blankets the other night when we were reading books.  She just has this level of compassion that I would have never imagined any 23 month old could have.  I pray she always continues to do so well with looking out for her little sister.

Here are some of the things that make me smile on a daily basis:

One day I was tidying up lunch and told her she could choose a few books to read before nap.  Suddenly, I heard, "Mommy, read books" and this was the stack of books she had collected..LOL!  Fortunately she compromised and allowed me to read just a few.

She has started having fun with her food:0)  this day she said, "ta-da, momma it's a house"  If you look closely you can see she indeed made a house with her watermelon:)

and since my camera's flash went off it was followed with, "no momma, too bright"

one day i removed the cover from the boppy pillow to put it in the laundry.....when i returned this is what I found....Evie "feeding" her baby!

She also loves to carry "purses" and will turn anything with a strap into a purse.  You also never know what you will find inside.  She found the small insulated bag from my pump and was carrying her rubber ducks around.

It is just so fun to watch her imagination.  the other day as i was getting ready, she was playing with some of my hair products......pretending they were "mommy, daddy, evie, and layla"

she loves playing with this "kavi" ornament and as a result it has a broken leg and a chipped nose.  The other day she asked me for a band-aid and later this is what I found:)

I could just sit back and watch her all day.  Words can't describe how much I love this little girl:0)
